EDUCATORS’ AND STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF STUDENTS INDUSTRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE SCHEME (SIWES):



Abstract

The study was designed to ascertain educators’ and students’ perception of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES); A case study of Delta State University, Abraka. To direct the study, four research questions were stated. The study adopted the survey research design and the population of the study comprised all 400 Level Business Education students and educators in Delta State University, Abraka.
The sample size for the study was two hundred (200) students randomly sampled from the entire 400 Level Business Education students. Data for the study were collected using researcher’s developed questionnaire. In analyzing the data collected, the researcher used simple percentage to test the research questions. The data analyzed revealed that students and educators have a positive perception of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme and there is there is a significant difference in the perception of male and female students and educators on Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme. Based on these findings, some recommendations were made at the end of the study.
